So Orwellian!
More like so depressing.
It would be so depressing to live in that world and that’s something everyone can agree on. And so when we tackle a question like how can we avoid describing our situation as Orwellian ever again, it’s frightening because it begs the question of how we would even realize such a transition happening.
Because obviously when this sort of change happens in the book, it’s gradual enough that enough people went along with it, and didn’t notice their basic human rights being stripped away. You don’t know it until you look at it from an outside perspective.
It’s intimidating to think about because we don’t really realize how often we live our lives passively and not actively.
All we can really do is celebrate our differences, because that’s what gives us our diversity of thought and challenges us to do better. With everyone thinking the same, we would be on a path of conformity, inappropriate power dynamics, and little progress.
So even though there might not be a single answer, continuing to uplift our individuality and build off of each other seems like a pretty good place to start.
I agree with this entirely. We definitely need to embrace our differences. thats what makes everyone so interesting and life not as boring
ReplyDeleteWell said. Individuality is definitely one of the keys -- with it, we can be active in our own decisions and not just obedient to authority.
